Life skills, antiviolence mentorship program in Springfield helps empower students

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — The Springfield City School District is on a mission to connect students with mentors and the tools to avoid costly mistakes while in their teens.

Springfield City Schools is home to a mentorship program that is combating youth violence and empowering young people. It started 10 years ago in partnership with the Obama Foundation.

My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) and My Sister’s Keeper (MSK) encourage students by connecting them with positive mentors. More than 200 other U.S. cities launched the program in 2014 under former President Barack Obama’s Youth Leadership Program with a simple mission.
